Photography: James Ramsay
I started Brides Like Us to show my perspective as a trained photojournalist available to document your wedding day. In addition to photographing hundreds of weddings, I’ve also been blessed to do workshops with some of the best photographers in the world from publications such as National Geographic. Using a photojournalistic approach, I make sure to capture you and your friends and family as they actually are, rather than resorting to tons of cheesy poses and staged shots. I know when to let my personality shine through and when to be a fly on the wall to document all the memorable candid moments throughout your wedding day. Feel free to contact me through my website or via Facebook if you are thinking of hiring a photographer for your wedding day or if you have story ideas for Brides Like Us.
I have been published in Minneapolis St. Paul Magazine, The Saint Paul Almanac, The Star Tribune, and am published frequently by St. Paul Publishing. I was the production still photographer on a major motion picture called Lumpy, which was filmed almost entirely in Minnesota. The film stars Justin Long (“Live Free or Die Hard” and “Waiting…”), Jess Weixler (“The Normals”), Tyler Labine (“Rise of the Planet of the Apes”), Addison Timlin (“Californication”), Shelley Long (“Cheers”), Frances O’ Connor (“A.I.”) and Evan Jones (“8 Mile”). The film was written and directed by Ted Koland, a native of Minneapolis. I enjoy supporting local filmmaking by shooting for the Twin Cities Film Fest.

His focus on super serving his customers and fellow wedding professionals has taken him far. He runs a really cool wedding photography and video company called J Walter Anderson Photo and Video. With his hand picked team of photographers, videographers, and editors, John takes pride in the final product as well as great enjoyment from meeting so many brides! John’s editors use Final Cut Pro to make a highlight video of your wedding, the same software used by the Coen Brothers! You might recognize John’s voice from his years as a radio DJ!
Photo Booths: Matt Stillmunkes
Matt has become a great friend to Brides Like Us and we appreciate whenever he is able to contribute an article! Brides and Grooms everywhere are jumping on this hot trend and offering their guests of all ages free entertainment by investing in a photo booth. One thing that makes Photo Booth Creations different is they use hand built wooden photo booths instead of a curtain. This allows their photo booths to be bigger, which gives you more options for fun combinations of friends and family. Plus when everyone is dressed up all fancy, it’s nice to be able to see the outfits in the photo strips! They do all kinds of events from weddings, school functions, to generating money for a good cause like heart health with The Purple Rain Era Revolution at First Avenue.
Hair and Makeup: Kira McCarty
Brides Like Us is very fortunate to have a hair and makeup expert like Kira from Muse. She and her girls can handle any style of hair and makeup for your wedding day, but they have the added benefit of being experts in pinup styling. Kira is on top of the latest trends in wedding hair and makeup. For example airbrushing can give you gorgeous, flawless looking skin for your wedding day! The girls at Muse are very comfortable working on location at your house, hotel room or wedding venue.
